For adult survivors
Your story is yours. Healing is possible.
Survivors can experience trauma in many different ways. You deserve reliable information, respectful support and choices about your healing.
Acknowledge
Naming what happened and noticing its effects can be part of healing. You decide when, where and with whom to speak.
Feel
Trauma can affect emotions, sleep, memory and the body. Move slowly, use grounding skills and pause when feelings become overwhelming.
Connect
Choose people who respect your boundaries. A trained counsellor or survivor service can provide confidential, trauma-informed support.
You could say
“I'm carrying something from my past and I'd like support with it.”
“I'm not asking you to fix it. I need you to listen.”
Heal
Healing is not a straight line. Rest, movement, faith, creativity, supportive relationships and professional care can all help. What happened does not define your worth.
Not just one message
This can be ongoing support, not a single reply
If you have been through sexual abuse, harassment or assault, one message often is not enough. You can ask for regular check-ins, a referral for counselling or a medical check-up, help with a safety plan, or simply someone to follow up with you over time, on your schedule and at your pace.
More ways to find help
You are not alone in this.
Whatever brought you here, reaching out is a safe and reasonable thing to do.
